      Shure SLXD24 Overview

The Shure SLXD24/N8S offers presenters and performers a wireless handheld microphone system that's dependable, easy to set up, and features crystal-clear, digital sound quality. Built around a rugged, single-channel, half-rack receiver with removable antennas, the system is ideally suited for portable rigs or long-term installations in small- to medium-sized venues, event spaces, conference rooms, houses of worship, and education facilities.

The SLX-D operates in the G58: 470 to 514 MHz UHF band to transmit high-quality, 24-bit digital audio with over 120 dB of dynamic range for crisp, detailed sound. It utilizes Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference and deliver a solid, reliable RF signal without dropouts.

This configuration includes the SLXD2 handheld transmitter equipped with a Nexadyne 8/S dynamic supercardioid capsule, featuring an innovative Revonic dual-transducer design that uses two separate, but interdependent sets of diaphragms, voice coils, and magnets. This unique technology gives this dynamic mic a condenser-like clarity with a crisp, yet natural high-end and plenty of detail—allowing vocalists to worry less about mic technique and instead focus on delivering powerful performances. The supercardioid polar pattern delivers tight directionality, high gain before feedback, and enhanced rejection of off-axis sound.

The lightweight metal transmitter features a selectable 1/10mW RF power output and a transmission range up to 330'. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries or an SB903 rechargeable battery (available separately). The all-metal, rackmount SLXD4 receiver features an intuitive LCD interface with meters for RF, battery status, and audio output. It also offers 60 dB of gain control, and both mic/line XLR and 1/4" instrument outputs. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning and IR sync to easily link the transmitter and receiver to the same frequency.

With up to 32 mic channels available at the same time, the SLX-D is ready to expand as your needs grow. What’s more, setting up multiple systems is made fast and easy via the Ethernet port, which links them together for quick, coordinated frequency scans from a single receiver.

Behind The Sound: Nexadyne Microphones and Revonic Technology

SLX-D How To: Set Up and Use
Handheld Transmitter with Nexadyne 8/S Supercardioid Revonic Capsule
      • With durable aluminum housing, the SLXD2 handheld microphone/transmitter offers a lightweight design that's comfortable to hold and features an LCD to show essential information.
      • The microphone capsule features Shure's Nexadyne Revonic system, an innovative dynamic microphone design that uses two matched dynamic transducers, working in conjunction, to provide more opportunity for both greater sound quality and the rejection of unwanted signal.
      • Wiring the transducers out-of-phase cancels mechanical vibration, so self-noise is actively zeroed out. This makes traditional pneumatic shockmounts unnecessary, and allows the transducers to be optimized for acoustic performance.
      • Vocal performers will experience natural and vivid clarity when performing—enabled by a cartridge design that optimizes signal output acoustically, producing more of the desired sound source and less environmental and handling noise.
      • Engineers will receive stronger and clearer output, resulting in fewer EQ corrections that are often necessary with other mics to retain vocal clarity within the mix.
      • The supercardioid polar pattern provides tightly focused audio capture centered on the performer in front of the mic, reducing bleed from other sources for a clearer sound with substantially less feedback issues from on-stage monitors.
      • The transmitter's interchangeable capsule design allows you to choose the ideal capsule for your application. Shure offers a variety of optional dynamic and condenser mic capsules with varying pickup patterns—capsules include the Nexadyne 8/C (cardioid), SM58, Beta 58A, Beta 87A, and KSM8.
