For the ATH-M50x professional monitor headphones and ATH-M50xBT2 wireless headphones, we have regularly offered limited-edition color models that can be enjoyed not only for their sound quality but also for their visual design. Furthermore, starting in 2020, the "M50x Series Limited-Edition Color Voting", in which customers vote for the color of the limited-edition model, has been held online, with many customers from all over the world participating.
In January 2024, we opened a special website, "LAB M50x", as our first attempt to have fans participate in the creation of the limited-edition models by submitting their own color designs. On this site, participants could select from an array of colors, in either matte or metallic, for each headphone part, and thousands of fans shared their designs on social media using the hashtag: #MyM50x2024. Our expert panelists, including the product manager of the ATHM50x, selected three finalists from 14,560 submissions, and the winning "LAB M50x" design was selected with 3,127 votes from fans on social media.
The winning design was submitted by Sergio Gamarra, a DJ from Bolivia. Speaking about his chosen color selections, Sergio said: “First, blue represents confidence, reflecting the quality and reliability of the M50x headset. Orange evokes energy and creativity, highlighting the excitement of the music in us. Finally, gray adds a sense of sophistication and elegance, balancing the color palette and adding a touch of modernity.”
